The calculator can help you estimate your electricity cost before your bill arrives.

You can use it to:

  • Estimate the cost of different unit amounts
  • Compare lower and higher usage
  • Get an idea of your monthly electricity expense

For the exact amount, check your latest electricity bill.

The calculator uses the unit consumption and consumer details you enter to estimate the bill. It applies energy charges based on your units, along with the applicable fixed charges, taxes and adjustments supported by the calculator.

Your actual bill can differ because the official bill may contain charges or adjustments not included in this estimate, such as arrears or tariff revisions. If a charge on your bill looks unusual, our MEPCO Bill Correction guide explains what to do next.

Using the calculator is straightforward. You only need your monthly electricity units and the connection details requested by the calculator.

Step 1: Enter Your Units
Enter the number of electricity units you used during the billing period. For example, if your previous bill shows 300 units, enter 300 in the units field.

Step 2: Select Your Consumer Type
Choose Protected or Unprotected. Select Protected only if your connection meets the applicable protected-consumer criteria. If you're unsure, check your latest bill or official tariff information.

Step 3: Select Your Consumer Category
Choose the option that matches your electricity connection, such as Domestic, Commercial, Industrial or Agricultural. If you're setting up a connection for the first time, our MEPCO New Connection guide explains how each category is assigned.

Step 4: Add Applicable Charges
Select FPA, GST or TV Fee if they apply to your connection. Enter the applicable rate where the calculator asks for one. For a breakdown of what these charges actually mean, see our Fuel Price Adjustment guide and MEPCO Bill Taxes Explained.

Step 5: Calculate the Bill
Click Calculate Bill. The calculator will show the estimated amount and the available bill breakdown. You can change the number of units and calculate again to compare different usage levels.

Once you have your estimate, you can check payment options on our MEPCO Bill Payment Methods page, and keep an eye on your MEPCO Bill Due Date to avoid a late payment surcharge.
